Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Limited edition print?

A limited edition print is limited in the number of copies available. Limited edition prints are signed and numbered. Giclee digital print editions are typically available in 2 sizes and limited to 25 copies in each size. Silk-screen print editions are hand made and consequently vary in edition number with only one size available.

What is an open edition print?

This is when there is no limit to the number of copies available. These prints are not numbered and not signed.

What are the main differences between Limited and Open editions?

Limited editions; show the full image as intended to be seen by the artist and are not cropped. They include some white space around the image so that that they can be framed to show the artist signature and number of the edition. Frames will need to be bespoke made for limited editions.

Open editions; the image may be cropped to fit into standardised proportions. This is more noticable on landscape and portrait shaped images. Square images are less affected. The images have no addittional white space surrounding them. Open editions can be framed in standardised commercially available frame sizes. 30 x 30cm, 40 x 40cm, A4, A3 and A2.

What is a digital Giclee print?

All digital Giclee prints are produced and shipped by the PrintSpace, who have production facilituies in London UK, the U.S.A. and Germany. All digital prints are museum quality Giclee art prints on Hahnemuehle photo rag paper.

Studies have shown that Giclee Prints colour vividness can last in excess of 200 years with tests by independent bodies such as Wilhelm Research and printer manufacturers such as Epson. This gives assurance to collectors and art buyers of this type of printing method.

What is a Silk-screen print?

Silk-screen prints are hand made by the artist. Colours are layered individually over the top of one another to make a complete image. This manual work is accomplished using high grade acrylic inks and archival papers. Due to the hand made nature of these works editions are typically limited to small numbers. Artist proofs, mono prints and variations are also available to purchase.

What are the frames made from: Frames are made from wood with a satin painted or veneer finnish. Fixings are attached and the frames are ready to hang.
